Spectacular Colors

This 14 karat fashion ring hosts a large faceted Amethyst bezel set with a row of round brilliant cut diamonds cascading around it. Inlays comprise of Onyx, Black Opal and a Sodalite.
Up until the 18th century, amethyst was included as one of the most valuable, gemstones (along with diamond, sapphire, ruby, and emerald). However, since the discovery of extensive deposits in locations such as Brazil, it has lost most of its value.
Collectors look for depth of color.  The hardness of the mineral is the same as quartz, thus it is very suitable for use in jewelry.
