The Custom Jewelry Design Process

Simplified, the custom jewelry design typically begins with an idea, sometimes created around a given gemstone(s) or a concept someone has considered creating from an older piece they own or one that is inherited. Once the gemstones are measured, counted and a quick evaluation of each one is done I begin considering what would be most beneficial aesthetically for the new creation. Some gems may not fit the new design. Most designs are made up of basic 'findings' or 'components' that can be assembled to make the creation. Other times require the use of more modern technology using a computer program which allows me to move parts of the jewelry item or gemstone(s) around. This illustration gives a very good conceptual idea of the process. Consultations are free.
