Rhodolite Garnet

Rhodolite is a varietal name for a rose-pink to red mineral called pyrope, a species in the garnet group. The term rhodolite is derived from the Greek word for 'rose-like'.
As all garnets, they make great looking jewelry and are durable gems.
A most interesting fact is that most Rhodolite come from Cowee Valley, Macon County, North Carolina!
